Surf beaches are just 10 minutes away in The Royal National Park; Garie & North Era, and the pretty protected inlet of Watamolla. Experience the Coastal Track through Sydney’s Royal National Park with luxurious guided walking trips and relax at Simpson Cottage before or after. Blend the finest food and wine with breathtaking views of Eastern Australia’s most pristine coast line with the beautifully unique Simpson Cottage. An experience that will be remembered for a life time!
From the cottage there is access to a variety of walks, including the beach walk to the end of Maianbar and the Bundeena - Maianbar heritage trail marking Simpson Cottage, available on local maps. There are several day walks around such as Jibbon Headland which include aboriginal rock engravings. Visit the NSW Parks & Wildlife website for facilities, activities, maps and education in the Royal National Park.
There are numerous cycle tracks in the Royal National Park which are marked with special marker posts. One of the local favorites is Lady Carrington Drive, a 10km dirt track which is mainly flat. Kayaks can be rented on Bonnie Vale Beach just below the cottage (except Mondays & Tuesdays). Fishing bait and tackle are available from Bundeena Service Station.
Enjoy a charming ferry ride, leaving every hour to Cronulla and also scenic cruises of Port Hacking. Do a spot of whale watching in winter along the Bundeena - Otford Coastal Track. For tennis players there are two synthetic grass tennis courts for casual hire on Liverpool Street. For art buffs, the Bundeena Art Trail occurs on the first Sunday of every month, or you can visit Something at Marys Gallery (8 Mary Street) for Ceramics, Jewellery and Photography.
Grab some great pastries and bread baked daily at the Bundeena Service Station (get in early for croissants!). The IGA supermarket has all of your basics but it is best to bring fresh meat, seafood, fruit and vegetables with you. Refer to the map on this page for local eateries, or catch the ferry across to Cronulla and have lunch at Summer Salt Restaurant, perched above Elouera Surf Life Saving Club, with spectacular views over the Pacific Ocean.
